PeaceMakers After-School 2024 - Program Overview:

Program Instructor: Keisha Gilmore 

The after-school program is aimed at providing students with engaging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) projects, assistance with homework completion, and a nutritious dinner. The program will run from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM on weekdays, catering to students ages 6-11. 

Objectives:

1. STEM Engagement: Foster a passion for STEM subjects through hands-on, project-based learning activities.

2. Academic Support: Provide a conducive environment for students to complete their homework with the guidance of qualified mentors.

3. Nutritional Support: Ensure that students receive a balanced dinner, promoting their overall health and well-being.

Program Components:

Homework/Tutoring (2:30 PM – 4:00 PM): time will vary on the student's arrival

  - Dedicated time for students to work on their homework assignments with the support of knowledgeable tutors.

  - Individualized attention to address specific academic needs and challenges.

   - Encouragement of good study habits and time management skills.

STEM Projects (4:00PM - 5:00 PM):

   - Engaging weekly STEM projects covering various topics such as robotics, coding, engineering challenges, and scientific experiments.

  - Small group activities led by experienced instructors to encourage collaboration and critical thinking.

 - Access to necessary materials and equipment to facilitate project completion.

Dinner Service (5:00 PM - 6:00 PM):

  - Nutritious meals provided to all participants, catering to diverse dietary needs and preferences.

  - Opportunities for students to socialize and bond over shared meals in a welcoming atmosphere.

 - Emphasis on promoting healthy eating habits and awareness of nutrition.
